Our History

The history of WHCS Radio is known by few. Bits and pieces of its legacy has been whispered across Hunter College's campus and little know about its impact, even though thousands of students have passed by its broadcasting studio on the way to their classes. Even WHCS members are confused as to how it all started.

From searching through Hunter yearbooks and asking around, we've concluded that WHCS has gone through ebbs and flows, with some periods, like the 2020 Pandemic, being completely off-air. With the help of the 2026-2027 E-Board and Staff, we are committed to uncovering the true and uncensored history of this place we call home. ​
